Sanya Kantarovsky is known for his work across a variety of mediums, as well as texts and curatorial projects. His widely celebrated figurative paintings are known for drastic shifts in scale, paint application, and stylization.

The new silkscreen Little Vera is a portrait of the artist's daughter and refers to a painting that was included in Kantarovksy's recent solo exhibition Center at Capitain Petzel, Berlin.

Little Vera marks Artspace’s second collaboration with New York-based nonprofit RxART. Proceeds from this sale support RxART’s mission to help children heal through the extraordinary power of visual art. RxART commissions established contemporary artists to transform children's hospitals into engaging and inspiring healing environments full of beauty, humor, and comfort at no cost to the hospitals. RxART has completed 56 projects with 65 artists in almost 40 hospitals across 20 cities in the U.S. since it first launched in 2000.

 

Sanya Kantarovsky’s (b. 1980, Russia) recent exhibitions include solo presentations at Kunsthalle Basel, Switzerland, and Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Turin, Italy; group shows at Jewish Museum, New York and Sculpture Center, New York; as well as his curatorial project Sputterances at Metro Pictures, New York. A comprehensive monograph entitled No Joke was co-published by Studio Voltaire and Koenig Books in 2016. Kantarovsky’s works belong to prestigious museum collections including Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C.; Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston; Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; Los Angeles County Museum of Art; Tate Modern, London; and Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. He currently lives and works in New York.
